(8:30 a.m.)Last night Sam III enjoyed the season premiere of "The Simpsons". Earlier in the day, the nurses worked to take him off the ventilator for a few minutes. Sam didn't tolerate it very well. His nurse, Rose says that that is not unusual for the first attempt. We read to Sam a number of the comments that you all have sent. He really enjoys hearing from you. This morning, the nrse is stretching Sam's legs. This helps to keep the tendons from drawing up. (7:00 p.m.)Sam had a rough day. The nurses suctioned his lungs several times. The doctor will probably perform a tracheostomy on Wednesday or Thursday. This is a surgery to allow an opening to be placed in the throat that can be used for insertion of a breathing tube. He is currently using an oral tube. Please continue to keep Sam in your prayers. I read him all of yesterdays comments this morning. He really enjoys hearing from all of his friends. |

Keep it strong. Your going to have a few more rough days in your path but everyone knows that you have the heart and sure will power to not only meet but to exceed expectations.I talked to Steve miller today and he hasn't had a chance to get to a computer because he is on the road and wanted me to give you a BIG SHOUT OUT from him.I also asked him about Adkins and he said Adkins is fine he is in the hospital in Macon and has a couple of broken ribs,bruised back,and broken shoulder blade but not a fractured back like they had thought before.He is in good spirits and will be in his on room shortly. George had asked me and plus I wanted keep everyone else updated as well. I'm keeping oyu both in my htoughts and I will see you soon.Lori,Carr and Lorena wanted me to let you know that they are thinking about you as well.

Hi Sam. I've been keeping up with your progress daily and am glad to hear you're doing better. Sorry you had a bad day yesterday, but I know you're gonna pull through this and be home in no time. You have so many friends and family by your side that care about you alot and I know they keep that smile on your face. Thinking of you and miss you all!

Ace & I were at Indian Pass Raw Bar with Shepard Center folks(coincidence?!)when we heard about your accident so we were able to warn them about you prior to your arrival(teasing!it was all gush- awshucks,you know I've always been your biggest fan)
I am so sorry you had such a rough day-remember I'm thinking of you chronically-
